Founding Head of Engineering Opportunity

Gabeo.ai is a venture-backed startup building agentic AI to solve some of the most complex and high-impact challenges in healthcare operations.

We partner with leading hospital systems to deploy automation agents that transform backend workflows, improving accuracy, speed, and outcomes in revenue cycle management.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will own the architecture and development of our agentic AI platform, design scalable, reliable backend infrastructure, and lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team.

As a Founding Head of Engineering, you will drive technical execution across short-term priorities and long-term strategic initiatives while collaborating closely with product, operations, and implementation teams.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • 7–10 years of experience in backend, platform, or systems engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's preferred or equivalent real-world experience)
  • Deep experience with Python or comparable backend languages in production environments
  • Proven track record designing and scaling complex systems and APIs
  • Experience leading engineering teams or projects with high accountability and ownership
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, distributed systems, and workflow orchestration
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make architecture decisions under ambiguity
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Startup experience or mindset — adaptable, resourceful, and focused on outcomes
  • Preferred: background in automation, agent-based systems, healthcare technology, or AI/ML infrastructure
