Assistant Manager - Accounts and Finance

Main tasks and responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process as per standard operating procedures set by the company.

  • Monitor and facilitate financial systems and processes, employee travel management.
  • Manage vendor relations, including group and foreign vendors, local vendors, travel ledger, and employee-related accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of accounts payable, expenses booking, and payments, ensuring all control checks are performed at all levels before the final payment to vendors.
  • Verify vendor invoices against purchase orders and rate contracts.
  • Ensure invoices are properly approved in compliance with financial policies and procedures, referencing details of PO, cost centre/division/location, and payment due date.
  • Provision for pending GRN, open Job Orders/POs, unbooked invoices, and open financial commitments where invoices have not been received.
  • Ensure all pay requests are generated on due dates and avoid overdue outstanding or undue delays in processing payments.
  • Analyze data on pending accounts payable, investigate delays, and take appropriate action for smooth functioning of accounts payable operations.
  • Timely close of monthly accounts.
  • Participate and act as a key user in the development, testing, and implementation of accounts payable systems, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

Expert knowledge of financial accounting and accounts payable processes - ability to understand, interpret, and expedite detailed and complex accounts payable transactions and documents.

  • Knowledge of taxation issues, particularly in income tax, TDS, excise, GST, customs, and other laws affecting all business areas of the company.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills, data management, and tracking skills.
  • The holder of the position must be able to prioritize and schedule tasks to develop work strategies to plan, execute, and meet timelines; must be proactive and hands-on, keeping abreast of changes in the field of work and acting as a good team player to interact with all levels.
  • Proficiency in SAP, IM applications, and other IM tools.
