Medical Services Head Job Description

As a Medical Services Head, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative direction to medical departments and services. Your role will involve coordinating and overseeing all medical care provided at the unit, ensuring the quality of clinical services rendered.

  • Coordinate and oversee all medical care provided at the unit, ensuring high-quality clinical services.
  • Ensure statutory compliances with regards to medical practices, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for medical services.
  • Oversee reporting and communication of quality improvement initiatives, patient safety awareness, and safety culture survey administration.
  • Address requirements of consultants and recruitment of medical professionals.
  • Induction, onboarding, credentialing, and privileging of new medical staff members.
  • Training and re-privileging of medical staff, monitoring their performance and conducting regular appraisals.
  • Review, peer review, and formulate draft replies for medico-legal cases with inputs from treating teams.
  • Maintain medicolegal trackers and follow up on active cases.
  • Conduct morality/mortality meetings periodically and review cases.
  • Audit clinical billing codes and provide clinical input to unit heads whenever required for medico-legal cases received.
  • Engage with the team through various initiatives like training, performance management, continual feedback, coaching, and reward and recognize people to motivate them to deliver desired results.
  • Recommend junior clinical manpower for effective functioning of clinical departments.
