Mortgage Team Lead

About the Role:

We seek a seasoned Mortgage Team Lead to oversee a team of professionals supporting our Commercial Real Estate lending operations. This position demands strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of CRE lending, and proven ability to drive collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and managing client stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor analysts processing CRE loan applications, credit documentation, and portfolio management.
  • Ensure 98%+ right-first-time documentation accuracy, track, review, and report team performance; conduct regular feedback and coaching.
Operational Excellence:
  • Enforce adherence to lending policy, standards, and criteria.
  • Review and approve credit papers/documentation prior to submission.
  • Support the use of systems to monitor loan applications through approval.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as the single point of contact for UK client stakeholders.
  • Manage escalations, provide operational updates, and lead process alignment discussions.
  • Facilitate transparent, regular communication between teams.
Compliance & Risk:
  • Oversee collaboration with KYC and Financial Crime teams for onboarding/fraud cases.
  • Ensure compliance with UK banking regulations and client-specific policies.
Process Improvement & Reporting:
  • Identify and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Prepare and present performance reports, dashboards, and insights for senior leadership.
Candidate Profile:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or financial services.

Proven experience in leading teams and working with UK/international banking clients.

  • Excellent knowledge of CRE lending, credit documentation, and compliance.
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability.
