Firmware Engineering Role Overview

The ideal candidate for this Firmware Engineer position will have a deep understanding of embedded software systems and be able to design, develop, and test firmware solutions that meet the requirements of complex electronic devices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Firmware Development: Design, develop, and test firmware for embedded systems using C++ and other relevant programming languages.
  • Hardware Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of firmware with hardware components.
  • Debugging and Analysis: Analyze and debug issues in firmware code to identify and fix defects.
  • Documentation and Process Management: Develop and maintain documentation for firmware development processes and procedures.
  • Industry Trends and Emerging Technologies: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve firmware development capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Embedded Software Development Experience: 6+ years of experience in embedded software development with a strong background in C++.
  • RTOS Experience: Hands-on experience with RTOS (like Zephyr) based application development in C/C++ and GTest for Unit Testing.
  • Data Acquisition and Board Bring-Up: Good knowledge of data acquisition modules and board bring-up, along with debugging skills.
  • Hardware Peripherals and Version Control: Exposure to working on hardware peripherals and familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence.
  • Additional Skills: Knowledge of Python and shell scripting is a plus.
Desirable Skills:
  • U-boot and Embedded Linux: Experience with U-boot, Embedded Linux, and other open-source components.
  • Communication Interfaces: Familiarity with communication interfaces like I2C, SPI, RS232/485, USB.
  • Industrial Protocols: Understanding of industrial protocols like Ethernet, Modbus, and REST.
  • Other Skills: Hands-on experience with MQTT, HTTP, BLE, Wi-Fi, and Webserver.
