Engineering Team Lead

This role involves leading an engineering team, taking a senior position in project work, focused on production and liaison with teams, while mentoring and coaching junior members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing feasibility study reports to meet brief requirements and reviewing them with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Working with teams to assemble design specifications compliant with employer requirements and ensuring their timely delivery.
  • Agreeing and monitoring scope of works with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Defining building requirements and purpose of use with the relevant stakeholders and teams for detailed design.
  • Conducting detailed design according to client requirements, standard codes, QA, and technical review, including complex calculations and coordination issues.
  • Reviewing and monitoring calculation production, including QA and technical reviews.
  • Ensuring project costing information is completed accurately and on time, keeping teams informed about design progress.
  • Coordinating project contracts documents and reviews input from team members.
  • Leading the design process, encouraging the team to deliver cost-effective solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Following document control and QA processes for project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building structure design with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record.
  • Excellent presentation skills are required.
  • Familiarity with technical structural software, such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, SAFE, and STAAD.
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Fluency in English with excellent understanding of technical terminology.
  • Demonstrate good management, communication, and technical skills, capable of working both independently and within the team.

Essential Competencies / Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and membership to an accredited engineering body.
  • Possession of British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is desirable.
