Job Title

Chief Financial Officer – Direct & Indirect Tax Compliance

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the preparation and filing of income tax returns, TDS returns, and tax audit reports.
  • Oversee GST returns filing, IT returns, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Ensure accurate computation of advance tax, GST liabilities, and TDS on crypto transactions.
  • Develop strategies for tax optimization while ensuring full statutory compliance.
  • Advise management on implications of tax laws related to crypto assets.
Regulatory & Statutory Compliance:
  • Handle responses to notices, queries, and assessments from regulatory authorities.
  • Stay updated on the evolving crypto taxation framework and ensure timely compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate tax structuring, crypto taxation framework, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and legal advisors on tax compliance matters.
Corporate Finance & Strategic Initiatives:
  • Lead financial due diligence, structuring, and compliance aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and crypto transactions.
  • Support fundraising, investor relations, and equity management with proper tax structuring and compliance.
  • Provide strategic insights to management on financial modeling, tax implications, and risk management.
Internal Finance & Controls:
  • Oversee monthly closing of accounts, reconciliations, and tax provisioning.
  • Support internal finance processes such as budgeting, expense monitoring, and financial MIS reporting.
  • Strengthen internal controls and governance framework for finance and compliance functions.
  • Implement robust systems for audit trails, reconciliation, and risk monitoring across all finance functions.
Trading Book & P&L Management:
  • Manage and monitor the trading book of the exchange, ensuring proper accounting, controls, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee profit & loss management for both users and the company, including reconciliation of trading revenues, fees, and expenses.
  • Ensure transparency, accuracy, and compliance in financial reporting of trading activities.
  • Collaborate with risk, product, and operations teams to ensure trading and P&L processes align with regulatory and financial standards.
Tax & Statutory Audit:
  • Lead tax audit and statutory audit processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Maintain proper documentation, audit trails, and reconciliations for Income Tax, GST, trading book, and financial audits.
  • Liaise with statutory auditors and regulators for audit and tax queries.
Key Requirements:
  • CA Qualification (mandatory).
  • 4–8 years of post-qualification experience in taxation, finance, audits, and P&L management.
  • Hands-on experience in tax filings, reconciliations, and statutory/tax audits.
  • Exposure to crypto exchanges, brokerage firms, trading book management, or fintech's preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate tax structuring, crypto taxation framework, and regulatory requirements in India.
  • Strong ability to manage profit & loss reporting for trading activities and company accounts.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and provide strategic financial insights.
