Job Description

Role Summary:

The Project Engineering team is responsible for project engineering with effective cross-functional coordination. This team will execute directly the mechanical & piping designs of W & WW treatment plants, desalination, and ZLD systems with advanced technologies. In this role, the Lead Project Engineer will deal with South Asia projects, carrying out basic & detailed mechanical, Civil, Structural design & Equipment Engg., Piping, Pipe support engineering, and detailing, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget targets.

Essential Responsibilities

• Execute challenging projects, seamlessly interface with cross-functional teams & global stakeholders towards successful project completion on time with quality.

• Provide technical leadership to assigned team members and mentor.

• Implement Veolia tools (SAP, Workflows, etc.), technical excellence, quality, consistent reviews (E-table reviews), on-time delivery of designs/documents. Lessons learned and problem-solving by experience.

• Generate ideas to simplify/optimize equipment & system designs, develop procedures, and execute objectives for self & team members.

• Implementation of ISO-9001 in the discipline with proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

• In line with overall project planning, develop project master document lists with effective planning for Engineering deliverables and Mechanical & Piping components procurement, etc., and monitor its status. Emphasis on improving On-Time-Delivery (productivity), efficiency, and optimization through standardization, etc., and update summary on mechanical engineering status to the team leads at regular intervals.

• Coordinate with external civil design agencies for developing civil/structural designs as required for specific projects. Evaluate/review civil design & drawings output for its adequacy and intended application.

• Resource planning considering the project pipeline, etc.

• Accountable for timely design approvals from customers & consultants.

• Engineer systems in compliance with engineering principles, customer specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable codes.

• Upgrade knowledge on various Veolia technologies & network with its technical leads globally.

• Technically guide the team and independently carry out Basic & Detail Engineering drawing/documents using sound engineering principles adhering to business Standards, Practices, Procedures, and product/program requirements.

• Perform P&IDs, Plant layout, GAD's, static & rotating equipment selection, fabrication drawings, detail drawing of piping with necessary analysis, etc.

• Perform required calculations to size and specify equipment, including (but not limited to) plant hydraulics, piping, chemical feed systems, vessels/tanks, pumps, filters/strainers, mixers, blowers, compressed air, and chemical feed systems.

• Work with procurement to specify, evaluate bids, and approve vendor documentation for rotating equipment & static equipment (e.g., HX, crystallizer, etc.), heat exchangers, chemical feed equipment, major subsystems, minor equipment, and piping components.

• Prepare fluid schedule, piping material specs, pipe service matrix, equipment list, Valves (Auto/Manual/control, etc.), etc., as required.

• Provide technical support to activities involved in the specification, procurement, fabrication, installation, and operation of specified project-related equipment and designs.

• Ensure that all discipline engineering designs, bills of material, and technical data are complete and accurate by reviewing associated engineering drawings & SAP system entries, etc.

• Meet Quality Management System (QMS) requirements for project execution and documentation, including implementation Engineering change management system and e-table reviews (Process Designs, HAZOP, IFC, Piping model).

• Timely interface with cross-functions (including teams from sales, proposal, installation & commissioning) to ensure accurate and timely information transfer and issue identification and resolution.

• Support Sales & Proposal teams with knowledge & expertise to win projects as necessary.

• Focus continuously on objectives (Value Engineering, Lessons learned, Cost incurred due to miss in Engineering phase, etc.).

• Site visits and customer meetings for project technical requirements.

• Knowledge of STAAD Pro, ANSYS, Auto PIPE is essential. Knowledge of CAESAR II would be an added advantage.

• Institute lessons learned & process improvements.

• Experienced with applicable National/International codes (UBC, ISO, ASME, ASTM, DIN, CSA, Indian Standards).

• Hands-on experience in engineering & analysis in large MNC's & Engineering Consultants.
