Senior Lead Data Engineer Job Description

This is a challenging role for an experienced data engineer to lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, architecture, and governance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Implement Complex Data Pipelines: Using Databricks and Azure Data Services to architect and optimize complex data pipelines.
  • Lead Development of Scalable Data Solutions: Developing scalable data solutions using Python, PySpark, and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Define and Enforce Data Quality Standards: Ensuring data is timely, accurate, and complete by defining and enforcing data quality standards.
  • Design and Maintain Enterprise-Grade Data Models: Designing and maintaining enterprise-grade data models using star and snowflake schemas.
  • Write and Review Advanced SQL: Writing and reviewing advanced SQL, including CTEs, aggregations, and complex joins.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust data solutions.
  • Champion Documentation, Metadata Management, and Data Governance Practices: Championing documentation, metadata management, and data governance practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field: Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field – or equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-On Experience with Databricks: 5 - 7 years of hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Expert-Level Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and Distributed Computing Frameworks: Expert-level proficiency in Python, PySpark, and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Deep Understanding of Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, and ETL/ELT Best Practices: Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT best practices.
  • Advanced SQL Skills: Advanced SQL skills, including CTEs, aggregations, and joins.
