Chief Manager Job Overview

This role oversees the company's litigation and dispute resolution processes, ensuring pragmatic, prompt, and cost-effective disposal/resolution of legal issues.

  • A bachelor's degree in law (LLB)
  • 8-12 years of experience in handling litigation, particularly in Power sector projects
  • Familiarity with construction/EPC/Infrastructure sector

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Manage litigation matters under Electricity and Telegraph Act, Land Acquisition, Arbitration, Constitutional matters, claims, contractual disputes, and criminal cases
  2. Represent or assist in matters before Writ Courts, District Courts, DRT, Claim Tribunal, Consumer Courts etc.
  3. Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as SLP, writ petitions, civil suits, criminal complaints, Claim petitions, counter affidavits, replies, and replications
  4. Brief senior and external legal counsels on matters, coordinate daily updates, and monitor pending matters with external counsel
  5. Prepare and monitor Legal MIS to control litigation/legal cases
  6. Strategize litigation based on the company's objectives and manage contingencies
  7. Deliver advice on legal positions with latest law positions and court decisions
  8. Ensure prompt, cost-effective disposal/resolution of legal issues
  9. Manage critical/high-stake litigation
  10. Draft and negotiate contracts based on business requirements and ensure compliance with applicable laws
  11. Advise management on legal rights, risks, and liabilities, ensuring statutory and legal compliance
  12. Perform thorough risk analysis and draft legal agreements
  13. Maintain good knowledge of law, especially related to Electricity and Telegraph Act, and procedural practice of courts and related statutes
