Category Manager - FMCG

This is an exciting opportunity to join our organization as a Category Manager for FMCG. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire FMCG category across 20-30 stores in the region assigned. You will lead a team of 8-10 members and be responsible for buying National & Regional FMCG brands.

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in FMCG sales with a strong background in general trade. He/She should have excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • He/She should possess good team management and training skills as they will be managing a large team and responsible for training and grooming the team members.
  • The candidate should be willing to travel across locations within the region assigned and PAN India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire FMCG category across 20-30 stores in the region assigned.
  • Lead a team of 8-10 members and be responsible for buying National & Regional FMCG brands.
  • Conduct classroom training and On-The-Job training for the team members.
  • Groom and develop the team members reporting into him/her.
  • Coordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores leading up to sales to ensure smooth business.
  • Meet Key vendor partners on regular basis for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives.
  • Work closely with various teams including Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase, and Central purchase to maximize offtakes and ensure best promotions in stores.
  • Discuss and close Monthly, Quarterly plans with FMCG vendors including demand planning, Promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
  • Responsible for training and grooming Purchase officers and Asst Purchase managers on the job as well as in-class room trainings.
  • Ensure availability in DC as well as stores day in and day out. Maintain competitive pricing in market.

Requisites:

  • Must be a Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 years of experience in FMCG sales.
  • Experience in General Trade will be preferred. Must be experienced in managing a similar role.
  • Knowledge of local language/location of posting is required. Must be willing to travel.
  • Must possess good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have very good team management and training skills as he/she will be managing a large team and responsible for training and grooming the team members.
