Job Title: Data Modelling Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Data Modelling Specialist to join our team. As a Freelance Data Modeler, you will work remotely designing, governing, and implementing conceptual, logical, and physical data models across modern cloud platforms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data Design and Delivery: Design and deliver data models for cloud and on-premises platforms (SQL Data Warehouse, Databricks Delta Lakehouse, Spark, etc.).
  • Data Governance: Govern data design and modelling by documenting metadata, business definitions, and constructing database objects for enterprise and investment projects.
  • Domain Expertise: Build a deep understanding of enterprise business domains (Customer, Sales, Finance, Supplier, Technology Inventory) to create scalable and reusable data solutions.
  • Collaboration and Review: Lead collaborative reviews of data model design, security, and code to ensure alignment with data product development.
  • Data Paradigms: Demonstrate expertise across multiple data paradigms: low-latency, relational, analytical, unstructured data lakes, and SAP data models.
  • Cloud-Centric Solutions: Develop reusable, cloud-centric data models and support data mapping and integration efforts.
  • Data Stewardship: Partner with data stewards to support data discovery, governance, and business stakeholder engagement.
  • Data Analysis and Development: Provide data analysis, requirements gathering, solution development, and design reviews for new and enhanced applications.
  • Data Sourcing and Profiling: Assist with data sourcing, profiling, planning, and transformation activities.
  • Data Lineage Mapping: Support data lineage mapping and creation of Source-to-Target Mappings (STTM) for ETL and BI developers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Data Modelling Tools: Strong proficiency with data modelling tools (ER/Studio, Erwin, IDM/ARDM).
  • Domain-Specific Experience: Experience in domain-specific data modelling for CPG, Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, Supplier, Customer.
  • MPP Database Technology: Hands-on expertise with at least one MPP database technology (Databricks Lakehouse, Redshift, Synapse, Teradata, Snowflake).
  • Version Control and CI/CD: Experience with GitHub or other version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
