Academic Economist

Job Summary:

This position involves teaching economics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a focus on delivering engaging lectures, tutorials, and case-study-based sessions. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in economics and excellent communication skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lecture Delivery: Teach economics to students in Management courses, using a range of pedagogical approaches to promote student learning and engagement.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and develop curriculum and course materials aligned with current economic policies and business practices, ensuring that they meet academic standards.
  • Student Guidance: Provide guidance to students on academic projects, dissertations, research, and internships related to economics and management, promoting independent learning and critical thinking.
  • Evaluation and Assessment: Assess and evaluate student coursework, assignments, presentations, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support student development.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and guest lectures to enhance applied learning and foster collaboration among students.
  • Research and Publication: Engage in academic research and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals and conferences in the field of Economics and Management, staying up-to-date with emerging trends and methodologies.
  • Departmental Contributions: Contribute to departmental meetings, committees, and curriculum enhancement initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred, although industry/research experience in economics is also highly valued.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools, statistical software (e.g., R, STATA, SPSS), and data interpretation is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
