Senior Database Administrator

In this key role, you will lead projects to modernize legacy systems and design databases for future applications. You will work closely with developers, IT, and business teams to ensure our data systems are secure, efficient, and ready for growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Solutions Design
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available database solutions (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Database Performance Optimization
  • Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage management.
  • Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery
  • Lead database capacity planning, disaster recovery strategy, and backup/restore processes.
  • Database Security
  • Implement and enforce database security controls including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Collaboration and Automation
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support software releases and schema changes. Automate routine database operations using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Replication and Failover Management
  • Manage and troubleshoot replication, clustering, and failover configurations.
  • Documentation and Standards
  • Maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for database systems.
  • Technology Evaluation
  • Evaluate new database technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Hands-On Experience in Database Administration
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in database administration, design, and performance tuning.
  • SQL Server Expertise
  • Expertise in SQL Server, with working knowledge of other RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • T-SQL Proficiency
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance analysis tools.
  • HA/DR Solutions Experience
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication).
  • Database Security and Compliance
  • Solid understanding of database security, compliance (e.g., PII, PCI), and role-based access control.
  • Automation Scripting
  • Proficient in automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • CLOUD-Based Database Platforms
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating DB changes into DevOps workflows.
  • Database Monitoring Tools
  • Experience in cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL Systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Regulatory Requirements
  • Knowledge of NoSQL systems (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Redis) is a plus.
