Job Title: Database Administrator

Overview:

The role involves managing and maintaining a complex corporate IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include database administration, performance tuning, and ensuring high availability.

  • 5 years of experience in a senior database administrator role is essential.
  • 2 years of experience in supporting failover clustering, SAN replication, and SQL High Availability technologies is essential.
  • 1 year of experience in troubleshooting and writing complex queries is desirable.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge with Red gate SQL Monitor and Redgate SQL Backup, as well as experience working within a financial services organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Database Administration: Managing databases, implementing security measures, and ensuring data integrity.
  2. Performance Tuning: Optimizing database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions.
  3. High Availability: Ensuring databases are always available, using technologies such as failover clustering and SAN replication.
  4. Support: Providing 24/7 production and development support for business critical applications and servers.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with MS Exchange, Active Directory, Operating System (MS Server & Citrix hosting) AV Protection, Monitoring and configuration Systems (SQL Monitor, SCOM, SCCM), Virtualisation (VMware), Storage (HP Sans) and Support, IT Security (Websense, F5, and Dell Secureworks etc.) and Web Infrastructure.
  • Knowledge with Data/DevOps including continuous integration.
  • Previous experience of migrating between versions of SQL Server.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of previous experience in a complex corporate IT infrastructure role is essential.
  • 5 years of previous experience in a Senior Database Administrator role is essential.
