
Taxation Manager

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Mergers and Acquisitions Taxation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax consulting, with experience in managing cross-functional teams and ensuring strategic execution, regulatory compliance, and optimal tax efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Support clients throughout the business lifecycle by conducting detailed quantitative analysis, managing seamless execution of plans, and applying effective structuring strategies to help achieve their commercial and strategic goals.
- Ideate on tax structuring options for multinational clients, evaluate India inbound structuring options, and devise a practical approach to resolving tax issues in structuring assignments.
- Plan tax due diligence work and advise clients in negotiating the terms of transaction and documents based on the findings of tax due diligence.
- Devising a comprehensive review of business operations to identify tax planning opportunities and compliance gaps, and support Partner/ Principal in the tax planning and tax management of assignments.
- Research estimated service cost & man hours required for project prior to pitching, draft and present proposals to clients, and ideate building commercial substance in the current process & procedure.
- Proactively communicate, respond and share updates & development of assignment on a regular basis with clients, and be the central point of contact and liaise with your client stakeholders, Partner/ Principal, local stakeholders and the team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with CFOs and Tax Directors, thereby creating a high-quality professional network, and demonstrate professionalism by working within legal and regulatory guidelines while remaining independent and objective at all times.
- Identify and ideate leads from public & private sources and constantly evaluate feasibility of new opportunities, and share new potential client database with Partners for review and guidance.
- Keenly keep track of developments at the client end, tax arena and overall industry trends, and build credibility and deliver high quality solutions while building rapport with Principal/ Partners client and key stakeholders to ensure repeat business.
- Understand the tax compliance landscape and ideate how technology can be used, internally (by tax professionals in the firm) and externally (by industry clients) to make the compliance process more effective - simpler, speedier and qualitatively superior.
- Aquire industry insights to improvise on current services, develop content for networking in external events & seminars, and share knowledge acquired from external forums with team members.
- Represent and endorse Dhruva's expertise and scope of service at various external forums, interact with peers and build a high-quality network in the industry, and publish articles& research papers on regular basis.
- Provide guidance to the team Facts/Issues/Tech inputs/Industry practice/ etc, proactively to enable them to deliver on assignments, and identify and point out challenges so that they can be overcome quickly with solutions.
- Connect with team on regular basis to ensure the assignment is closed within agreed TAT, track team performance & share continuous feedback, assess individual and team performance on closure of the assignment and share feedback and learnings with team.
- Review available information & assess the data/documents required from client, research & scrutinize all aspects of the assignment with the team to ideate and provide optimal solutions, and support Partners /Principal by drafting memo's/ opinions and reports.
- Build client relationship and develop strong understanding of the client's requirement and the business, review available information & necessary data/documents required from client, and scrutinize Notice/Orders and share the inputs with Principal/ Partner for further steps.
- Draft Appeals for review by Partner/ Principal and attend hearing, attend hearings/ submission of appeal and proactively update the client on a regular basis with regards to assignment development.
- COMPLIANCES: Review documents/forms/returns internally to maintain accuracy, periodically coordinate with clients for necessary documents and record all the documents related to assignment secured to ensure smooth closure of assignment.
- Offer necessary data and information to assist clients as needed, capture key outcomes of client meetings accurately and share comprehensive summaries with the client/principal.
- Devises litigation plans and solutions to effectively resolve clients' tax disputes.
- Review engagement letters with precision, monitor the entire invoicing process, including diligent follow-ups for outstanding payments and monitoring payment statuses, and establish and uphold data controls for research papers.
- Perform regular hygiene checks to ensure accuracy, assist Principal in updating MIS on regular basis, prepare service summary, review important client communications, ensure all facts & research is recorded securely, and identifying project overruns and initiating actions to recover from the same.
