SQL Server Database Administrator Role Overview

The role of SQL Server Database Administrator is a critical position within an organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and administering SQL Server databases in cloud-based environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Plan, implement, and oversee database services to meet business requirements.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring to ensure optimal database performance.
  • Configure and maintain disaster recovery, backups, and high availability solutions to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Implement and monitor security policies, access controls, and compliance standards to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and database lifecycle management.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA, with a strong background in cloud-based platforms.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management.
  • Strong experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues, with a deep understanding of T-SQL, backup/recovery, replication, indexing, and security configurations.
  • Proven experience with migration projects to cloud-based platforms, with the ability to plan and execute successful migrations.
