The International Potato Center is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Potato Seed Production Specialist in West Bengal, India.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to lead our ARC-based potato seed production initiatives in West Bengal. As a Senior Potato Seed Production Specialist, you will play a key role in coordinating with local partners to develop and implement effective seed value chain strategies. Your expertise in quality control, process management, and community engagement will be essential in ensuring the successful implementation of our projects.

Responsibilities
  • Seed Value Chain Development: Coordinate with project teams to assist local partners in seed value chain development, including varietal selection, identifying suitable areas for open-field seed multiplication, establishing low-cost seed production systems, developing marketing linkages, promoting seed entrepreneurship, and building capacity.
  • Quality Control: Oversee quality control of work plans to ensure that project priorities, delivery goals, and technology dissemination are clearly understood and effectively executed across local farmer group partnerships.
  • Process Management: Develop and maintain flexible and accountable processes for the timely planning and delivery of development activities, including technology dissemination and reporting.
  • Community Engagement: Ensure that project implementation is responsive to community and partner needs while aligning with CIP's principles and values.
  • Compliance: Monitor adherence to consultancy contracts, CIP policies and procedures, and relevant external rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in seed production, agricultural extension, or a related field.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership and team management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in MS Office and other software applications.
