Job Title: Senior Infrastructure SRE

Job Summary:

The Senior Infrastructure SRE will be responsible for the continued improvement and support of the Windows server environment, including Windows 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of Virtualization with VMWare and HPE Hardware products, as well as experience with Ansible or BladeLogic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create automation playbooks to streamline server management
  • Manage incident resolution to ensure problems are isolated and resolved
  • Support the post-incident and problem process to ensure root causes are correctly identified and remediated
  • Proactively manage the server estate to ensure supportability and improve the environment
  • Provide expert technical input and leadership during the resolution of intractable systems problems
  • Mentor 3rd-party engineers to ensure they are performing as expected
  • Maintain the server environment to a known, consistent standard
  • Identify gaps in monitoring and ensure remediation accordingly
  • Develop and implement new and expanded support services or performance/tuning recommendations
  • Continually identify improvements to processes and procedures to reduce technical costs and enhance service
  • Ensure client queries are dealt with effectively by the team
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of cross-platform infrastructure and relationships
  • Perform remediation on HPE hardware, software, and firmware, or make changes to systems management software
  • Patching and vulnerability management of the server environment
  • Review, maintain, and test upgrades to vendor software used for server support
  • Adhere to ITIL standards and processes

Technical Skills:

  • Windows – All versions
  • Experience working in a large shared environment (Server, Converged, Network, VMware)
  • VMware virtualization
  • VRealise Suite v*.x
  • Scripting and automation technology – At least one of Bash, Python, Perl, Ansible, PowerShell, VBScript
  • HPE Server Hardware (ProLiant range, Synergy/OneView)

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Rapid 7 vulnerability management toolset
  • McAfee security products
  • SAN Storage and Switches (HDS, Brocade)
  • Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle, Google)
  • Monitoring tools such as Dynatrace

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Agile
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience with ticket tracking software, specifically Service Now
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across complex environments
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with internal/external customers, vendors, management, etc.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to identify and implement technology and/or cost/process improvements
