Job Title: Composite Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Composite Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Skyroot. As a key member of our composite manufacturing engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are allocated to the composite manufacturing engineering team with technical inputs on safety, on-time delivery, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review detailed work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSAs that meet design process quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Provide technical manufacturing inputs and guidance to shop floor design, quality, and management teams.
  • Interface with related support groups to ensure accuracy, control, and safety of personnel and quality of hardware.
  • Perform investigations of nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Present fabrication processes at customer readiness reviews and present process changes to customers at change board meetings.

Desired Skills:

  • At least 46 years of experience within the composites manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with supply chain management and the development of vendors for fabrication.
  • Good understanding of various composites manufacturing processes and equipment used, such as Filament Winding, Tape Winding, Compression Molding, Resin Transfer Molding, Hand Layup, PrePregging, etc.
  • Experience with Filament Winding in proving out composite motor casing, composite vehicle sections, launch tubes, nozzles, etc.
  • Ability to operate 4 & 5 axis CNC Filament Winding machines, autoclaves, ovens, tape winding machines, hydraulic press, etc.
  • Knowledge on various bonding techniques between dissimilar materials interfaces, such as Metals-Composites, Elastomer-Composites, Elastomer-Metal, etc.
  • Familiarity with raw materials qualification standards (ASTM/BS/IS, etc.) for metallics and Composites.
  • Ability to act quickly on fluctuating demands and coordinate well with internal teams for closure and be responsible for the manufacturing of hardware.

Requirements:

  • 46 years of experience in the composites manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with supply chain management and vendor development.
  • Good understanding of composites manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Experience with Filament Winding and other composites manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to operate CNC machines and other equipment.
  • Knowledge of bonding techniques and raw materials qualification standards.
  • Ability to act quickly and coordinate with internal teams.
