Senior Electrical Systems Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced electrical engineer to lead our team in designing and executing complex power generation projects.
- Burns McDonnell India Power Division is focused on delivering innovative solutions for the Mumbai Office, with a wide range of design and project execution experiences. The successful candidate will have experience with electrical interconnect designs, including rotating machines, large power transformers, generator circuit breakers, isolated phase bus duct, non-segregated phase bus duct, switchgear, motor control centers, small power transformers, and variable frequency drives.
- The ideal candidate will be able to work in a diverse project team environment, developing consensus in identifying optimum solutions to complex problems. They will also have extensive interface experience with equipment suppliers/vendors, Burns McDonnell project managers, other engineering disciplines, modelers, designers, and detailers locally in the Mumbai office as well as remotely in various offices in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers and designers to execute simple cycle/combine cycle power plant EPC type projects;
- Coordinate with discipline leads, project management teams, and clients for EPC type power projects;
- Train younger engineers on technical topics related to electrical power plant engineering design;
- Electrical system modeling including grounding, load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash analysis;
- Protective relay setting development, calculation, and coordination studies;
- Developing scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans;
- Preparing engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules;
- Preparing/capturing electrical deliverables like one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, interconnection drawings, equipment layouts, cable schedules, panel schedules, power, grounding, and lighting layouts for constructing/installation of new or modifications of existing power generating facility electrical systems;
- Regularly meeting and corresponding with clients or outside personnel;
Requirements:
- Work experience demonstrating progressive design and project management responsibilities;
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program;
- Minimum 11-15 years of related experience;
- Experience leading teams for execution of mid-to-large size Electrical Detail Design/EPC projects for Industrial, petrochemical, or power plant type projects;
- Experience executing projects based on ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, NERC, IEEE, CSA, and other international codes and standards;
- Software experience utilizing SKM Power Tools, ETAP, SmartPlant, CDEGS, or similar software;
- Field construction and commissioning experience is preferred;
- Excellent written verbal communications skills, analytical problem-solving skills required;
Bonus Skills:
- Previous consulting engineering experience;
- Power generating facilities, process facilities, and/or large industrial facilities experience including medium voltage, low voltage, lighting, grounding, electrical equipment control, protective relaying, and associated systems design and construction administration;
