Large Scale Database Management

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the high availability and performance of our critical production systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing and optimizing large-scale database systems, with a strong background in data and index shard management, caching strategies, and node-relationship modeling.

The successful candidate will design schemas and data models for search, caching, and graph-based use cases using Elasticsearch/OpenSearch APIs and query DSL. They will also optimize data distribution, sharding, caching, and query performance to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize database clusters for high availability and performance using AWS services such as OpenSearch Service and EC2.
  • Optimize data distribution, sharding, caching, and query performance to meet SLAs for critical production systems.
  • Design schemas and data models for search, caching, and graph-based use cases using Elasticsearch/OpenSearch APIs and query DSL.
  • Tune query performance and indexing strategies to meet SLAs for critical production systems.
  • Automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring using DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time for revenue-impacting systems using advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing large-scale databases in production.
  • Expertise in data and index shard management, caching strategies, and node-relationship modeling.
  • Strong experience in schema design and data modeling for search, caching, and graph use cases.
  • Proficient in AWS services, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch APIs, and DevOps tools.

Technical Skills:

  • AWS services: OpenSearch Service, EC2, ElastiCache, CloudWatch.
  • Elasticsearch/OpenSearch APIs, query DSL, and optimization.
  • In-memory databases: Redis, Memcached, or graph databases: Neo4j Cypher.
  • DevOps tools: IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, Configuration: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack.

Soft Skills:
