Job Summary

A seasoned mechanical engineer is required to design and develop passenger car components. With 6 to 8 years of experience, this professional will have a proven track record in designing body-in-white (BIW) structures and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate BIW component concepts using computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Develop BIW panels for the automotive industry
  • Create master sections
  • Analyze results of structural, static & dynamic, manufacturing simulations for BIW components
  • Conduct design for manufacturability (DFMA), manufacturing feasibility, tooling feasibility analysis of BIW components
  • Have knowledge on materials, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and stack up analysis
  • Maintain team center knowledge
  • Identify cost optimization ideas for components and assembly
  • Conduct design reviews and packaging reviews for solutions and quick actions
  • Manage prototyping activities and builds
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • Overall experience of 6 to 8 yrs in passenger car design
  • In-depth knowledge of passenger car BIW structure and assembly
  • Strong experience in UG NX, parametric modeling, surface modeling
  • Experience in manufacturing & joining techniques of BIW structures
  • Ability to create master sections
  • Ability to interpret results of structural, static & dynamic, manufacturing simulations for BIW components
  • In-depth knowledge of DFMA, manufacturing feasibility, tooling feasibility of BIW components
  • Knowledge on materials, FMEA, GD&T and stack up analysis
  • Team center knowledge is a must
