Expert Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engineer

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the management and migration of workloads from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.

This is a 6-month project requiring two expert engineers – Senior and Principal – to collaborate on its execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, automate, monitor, and perform Day 2 Operations on production-grade RedHat OpenShift Container Platform using the OpenShift Virtualization operator.
  • Lead and execute the migration of virtual servers from VMware vSphere to OpenShift Virtualization using tools like virt-v2v and CDI (Containerized Data Importer).
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity. Perform tuning and optimization of nodes, storage, and networks for virtualized workloads.
  • Serve as the highest level of escalation for diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to OpenShift Virtualization, KubeVirt, CNI, and storage.
  • Implement security best practices for the platform, including hardening, role-based access control, and network policies.
  • Design and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for both containerized and virtualized workloads.
  • Develop automation scripts using Ansible, Terraform, or Golang to manage the platform efficiently.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • At least 6 years of infrastructure engineering experience for Senior or 8 years for Principal.
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization in production.
  • Deep expertise in OpenShift Container Platform (OCP 4.x+) and Kubernetes core concepts.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals: Pods, Deployments, Stateful Sets, Services, Networking, Storage, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS) including system administration, kernel tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid knowledge of container technology (Docker, CRI-O).
Significant Advantage:
  • Expert-level VMware vSphere knowledge.
  • Direct experience migrating VMs from VMware to OpenShift Virtualization.
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Go) and Red Hat certifications.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana).
  • Red Hat certifications (e.g., RHCE, CKA, CKAD, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization).
