Job Description

The Cath Lab Technician is responsible for preparing the cath lab for procedures, assisting cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, operating specialized equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing the cath lab with necessary equipment, supplies, and medications before procedures
  • Assisting cardiologists during procedures, including angiograms, angioplasty, stent placements, and electrophysiology studies
  • Operating and troubleshooting specialized cath lab equipment, including X-ray machines, catheters, and imaging systems
  • Maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to infection control protocols
  • Monitoring patients' vital signs, heart rhythms, and overall condition during procedures
  • Implementing radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and themselves while using X-ray equipment
Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of cardiovascular procedures and techniques
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Basic life support certification
  • Knowledge of radiation safety protocols
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
