Job Title: Messaging Infrastructure Professional

Overview: A leading organization seeks a seasoned professional to manage and support messaging infrastructure on the z/OS platform.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain messaging software and file transfer edition on z/OS.
  • Manage messaging objects including queue managers, channels, and cluster configurations.
  • Monitor performance and availability, applying tuning techniques to optimize throughput and reduce latency.

Upgrade Support:

  • Plan and execute upgrades of messaging software components on z/OS.
  • Conduct compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and version control records for upgrades.

Security & Compliance:

  • Implement and manage messaging security protocols including TLS/SSH certificates and security exits.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for secure messaging environments.

System Programming & Integration:

  • Support integration of messaging with z/OS subsystems including CICS, DB2, and IMS.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for messaging operations.

Disaster Recovery & High Availability:

  • Design and implement messaging queue sharing groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies for messaging environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with messaging software on z/OS.
  • Deep understanding of messaging monitoring tools and MQ queue sharing groups.
  • Proficiency in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related language tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in hybrid team environments.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Messaging administrator certification.
