Telecommunications Design Engineer Role

We are seeking an experienced ICT and Telecommunications professional to join our Technology Systems team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecommunications design, including structured cabling systems, communications rooms, outside plant infrastructure, and active ICT networks.

This role requires the development and publication of telecommunications designs, preparation of reports, specifications, calculations, and drawings, as well as liaison with engineers, vendors, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed telecommunications designs to support projects.
  • Create designs relating to ICT and Telecommunications Systems, including structured cabling systems, communications rooms, outside plant infrastructure, and active ICT networks.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, specifications, calculations, and drawings to facilitate tendering processes.
  • Liaise with other engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Mentor junior and graduate engineers within a multi-discipline design team.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems, or Telecommunications, or a Master's degree in Information Technology (Networks).
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • Prior experience in mentoring is desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status in a relevant engineering discipline (MIET, etc.) is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in leading, producing, and checking ICT and Telecommunications designs.
  • Detailed knowledge of network design principles and significant experience working in critical environments.
