Backend Development Instructor

About this role:

This is a unique opportunity to combine your expertise in backend development with teaching and mentoring. You will design and deliver learning materials, provide technical guidance to students, and stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and learning materials for backend technologies such as Node.js, Express.js, and MERN stack.
  • Guide students through hands-on lab sessions and projects, helping them develop problem-solving skills and build practical applications.
  • Mentor students on best practices, coding standards, and career paths in backend development.
  • Collaborate with faculty members and Newton School teams to align curriculum with industry needs and trends.

Requirements:

  • 4-10 years of professional experience in software development with a focus on backend development.
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and API design.
  • Solid understanding of backend fundamentals including RESTful APIs, authentication, server-side logic, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Prior experience in mentoring, corporate training, or teaching is a plus.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with modern teaching tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with system design and scalable backend architectures.
