Your role

The Procurement/ Purchasing Analyst is a seasoned subject matter expert responsible for analyzing market outlooks and determining when and what to buy when contracting with vendors, ordering supplies, or making a big investment in a product or technology.

This role participates in the development and implementation of short-term strategies to procure/purchase commodities across all categories.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as the liaison between the business and vendors.
  2. Sources and screens vendors, negotiating contracts and presenting deals to decision makers.
  3. Reviews and processes requisitions to ensure timely order submission and negotiates costs, delivery schedules and contract terms.
  4. Analyzes documented comparative costs submitted by suppliers in the RFP process.
  5. Agrees pricing and performance standards through contracts with suppliers.
  6. Inspects and tests samples of products and services of vendors and documents features and benefits of each product, using this information to make the final purchasing decision.
  7. Responsible for documenting the costs for all assigned vendors, as well as generating monthly cost reports to present to stakeholders.
  8. Recommends sourcing strategies to leadership and monitors, pursues, and executes tactical and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  9. Administers trends and market conditions and maintain efficient flow of information for all materials.
  10. Prepares recommendations on the design of various cost savings programs and identifies new suppliers.
  11. Monitors order fulfillment against purchase orders to ensure on-time deliveries.

Knowledge and Attributes:

  1. Specialist at the cost-benefit analysis process.
  2. Good negotiation skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with suppliers/vendors.
  3. Solid knowledge of the relevant quality standards related to products and services.
  4. Good organizational skills.
  5. Ability to remain calm under stress and operate in a high-pressure environment.
  6. Good team skills, both as a leader and as a team player.
  7. Good communication skills, especially related to facilitation, documentation, and reporting.
  8. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint).

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
  2. Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).

Required Experience:

  1. Seasoned experience working in the field and related procurement/purchasing operational experience.
  2. Experience conducting cost-benefit analysis.
  3. Seasoned experience in using procurement modules for managing purchase orders, supplier information, and contract management.
  4. Seasoned experience in evaluating the vendors that work with a company based on the vendors price, quality, and availability.
