Senior DMSII Database Professional

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Unisys mainframe environments and have experience with DMSII database administration. This role requires the ability to install, configure, and manage DMSII databases, monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.

  • Install, configure, and administer DMSII databases.
  • Monitor database performance and ensure efficient data access by managing sets, subsets, and indexes.
  • Develop and implement backup procedures to safeguard against potential losses.
  • Collaborate with application and system teams to resolve performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with established policies.
Key Requirements
  • Hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Understanding of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and reorganization tools.
  • Knowledge of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot database issues and optimize performance.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII (nice to have).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in rotational support shifts if required.
