Database Infrastructure Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled database expert with extensive hands-on experience in managing distributed systems, including expertise in data and index shard management, schema planning, and data modeling for search, caching, and graph-based systems.

  • Design and implement high-performance database clusters for optimal availability and efficiency.
  • Optimize data distribution, sharding, caching, and graph traversals for efficient query performance.
  • Develop schemas and data models for search, caching, and graph-based use cases.
  • Tune query performance and indexing strategies to meet business requirements for critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be a proactive learner capable of adapting quickly to new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

  • Automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring using DevOps tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time for revenue-impacting systems.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus) to detect performance issues.
  • Ensure security and compliance with encryption and access controls (IAM, VPC).
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for application integration.
  • Stay updated on advancements in relevant database technologies.

Requirements and Skills:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science/Related Field

Experience: 5 - 10 Years Managing Production Systems

  • 5+ years managing distributed databases in production.
  • 2+ years managing in-memory databases or graph databases.
  • Proven track record with critical production systems impacting revenue.
  • Expertise in data and index shard management, caching strategies, and node-relationship modeling.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in containerization, monitoring, and cloud services.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for complex systems, excellent communication and collaboration skills.
