Leadership Role in Software Engineering

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead our technical teams and drive innovation forward. As a key member of our agile organization, you will be responsible for providing technical coaching and advisory services to multiple teams, while anticipating the needs and dependencies of other functions within the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of software engineers working on complex tasks
  • Be accountable for decisions that influence team resources, budget, tactical operations, and process execution
  • Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
  • Provide input to leadership regarding approach, technical considerations, and operational efficiencies
Requirements
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against strategic initiatives
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and REACT
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Familiarity with log/metric collection and monitoring technologies like ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases such as Cassandra
  • Experience with event-driven processing using Kafka
  • Hands-on experience with building CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in AWS is a plus
  • JavaScript and HTML experience is beneficial
  • Agile software development experience adhering to a product operating model
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design, microservices patterns, and modern architectures
