Product Innovation Director

Job Description:

We are seeking a visionary leader to drive innovation across cookware, tools, and kitchen appliances. As the Head of Research and Development, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading our R&D function from the ground up.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Grow R&D Function:
    • Lead a high-performing R&D team with a strong culture of experimentation, speed, and technical rigor.
    • Develop lab and prototyping capabilities through vendor partnerships.
  • Drive Product Development:
    • Oversee the development of next-generation cookware and small appliances focused on health, safety, and material integrity.
    • Craft innovative products by translating consumer needs into insights, benchmarking, and rapid iteration.
  • Customer and Market Understanding:
    • Prioritize customer-first innovation by integrating research, user data, and market signals into product decisions.
    • Analyze customer reviews, market gaps, and evolving health trends to identify whitespace opportunities.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    • Implement AI tools for testing, benchmarking, and product forecasting within structured frameworks.
    • Utilize data to minimize guesswork in design iterations and go-to-market decisions.
  • IP Protection & Compliance:
    • Create IP assets through proprietary materials, designs, or features, and ensure relevant patents and design registrations are filed.
    • Maintain compliance with national and international safety and performance standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with product, design, marketing, sourcing, and external labs or design firms to bring products from idea to shelf.
    • Partner with supply chain to ensure commercial viability and cost-effective scaling of innovations.

Key Qualifications:

  • Necessary Skills:
    • A minimum of 20 years of experience in R&D roles within cookware, kitchen tools, home appliances, or gas stoves.
    • Demonstrated success in building new products, filing patents, and leading teams.
    • A strong background in material science, industrial engineering, or product design is essential.
    • The ability to integrate science, consumer insight, and commercial constraints into successful products.
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Experience in both traditional and modern kitchen formats.
    • A background in setting up or transforming R&D functions in fast-growing or startup-like environments.
