Key Responsibilities

This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive music programming strategy that aligns with business objectives. The key responsibilities include defining the overall content direction, developing editorial calendars for playlists, campaigns, and seasons, and ensuring genre/mood/topic coverage meets business goals.



The Music Programming Manager will lead a team of curators, playlist editors, or content managers and work closely with cross-functional teams including Music Acquisition, A&R, Marketing, Product, and Data teams.



Strong analytical skills are required to leverage data and analytics to inform curation decisions and drive thematic campaigns like "Summer Essentials" or "Top Songs for Gaming."



Monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed is crucial in this role, including testing and iterating based on engagement, usage, and downloads metrics.



Requirements:


  • 4–6 years of experience in music programming, editorial curation, or content strategy at a similar company or DSP;
  • Strong understanding of music genres, moods, and social media use cases;
  • Proven ability to lead curation initiatives across multiple genres and formats, with a keen sense of music discovery and audience needs;
  • Comfortable working with data to make content decisions, with experience interpreting dashboards or using tools like Mixpanel being a plus;
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, campaigns, and curation calendars;
  • A strong global music sensibility with the ability to spot trends across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
