**About Alt Carbon**

We are a pioneering company in India's carbon removal sector, blending science, technology, and tradition to combat climate change.

Our mission is to turn the clock on historic emissions in the atmosphere. We operate from Bangalore, where our science and technology take place, and from Darjeeling's heritage tea estates, where our operations unfold.

We were founded by sibling tea planters Shrey and Sparsh Agarwal, who sought to rescue their family's tea estate from the risks of climate impact by turning it into a frontier of climate action.

**Job Overview**

We seek an enterprising individual with a background in designing social impact programs to lead our Community Benefits program at Alt Carbon. The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating community welfare, conducting large-N surveys, and developing effective stakeholder engagement forums.

The role involves working with local communities, indigenous groups, and other key stakeholders involved in carbon credit projects. You will facilitate inclusive consultations to understand community needs, concerns, and opportunities related to our Darjeeling Revival Program.

You will act as the primary point of contact for communities, ensuring transparent communication and mutual trust. Your tasks will include monitoring the social and economic impacts of community programs, conducting regular field visits, and preparing detailed reports on community benefits for stakeholders.

**Responsibilities**

• Build and maintain relationships with local communities, indigenous groups, and other key stakeholders involved in carbon credit projects.

• Facilitate inclusive consultations to understand community needs, concerns, and opportunities related to the Darjeeling Revival Program.

• Act as the primary point of contact for communities, ensuring transparent communication and mutual trust.

• Develop and implement frameworks to monitor the social and economic impacts of community programs.

• Conduct regular field visits to assess program effectiveness and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

• Prepare detailed reports on community benefits for stakeholders, including internal teams, project partners, and certification bodies.

**Requirements**

We are looking for someone with the following skills:

  • Language skills: Adaptability to local contexts and ability to pick up local dialects and languages (working knowledge of Bengali is crucial for this role).
  • Interest in community impact and climate: Passion for addressing climate change and its effects on local communities.
  • Appetite for chaos: Ability to manage high-pressure, fast-paced work environments and adapt to changing situations.
  • Clear thinking: Excellent communication skills in group settings and the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
  • Empathy: Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on empowering team members and fostering a collaborative work environment.

**Salary**: ₹800,000 - ₹1,200,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
