US Mortgage Underwriter Job Description">

We are seeking an experienced US Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. As a Conventional Underwriter, you will review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure eligibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.

Your primary responsibility will be to examine all documentation for accuracy and completeness, using your expertise in the 4C's framework (Credit, Capacity, Collateral, and Capital). You will also be responsible for verifying borrower's monthly income and expenses, as well as other relevant sections.

In addition to these duties, you will be expected to make independent decisions regarding acceptance and risk of loans according to HUD, company, and investor guidelines. You will also be responsible for providing final approval underwriting of mortgage loans, preparing required forms, and signing off conditions in a timely manner.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be working closely with staff and management to find solutions on escalated loans and may be requested to make recommendations for improving internal audit policies and practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in conventional/govt end-to-end underwriting
  • Well-versed with all 4C's of Underwriting (Asset, Income, Credit, and Collateral)
  • Excellent at Income Calculation and Debt-to-Income (DTI) Ratio Calculation
  • Familiarity with Credit report Analysis & LOX (Letter of Explanation)
  • Knowledge on Credit Bureau, Documents to approve the loan, Familiar with different account types

As a US Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing loans by using all functions of Encompass. You will also be expected to maintain high levels of customer service and communication with other departments, completing all required paperwork and forms in a timely and accurate manner.
