Job Title: Powertrain Engineer

The role of the Powertrain Engineer is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration and validation of vehicle components and sub-systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-voltage cables, busbars, and their layout along with plastic carriers required for HV & LV battery packs.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to ensure effective implementation of design changes during program development, prototype, and production build phases according to project timelines.
  • Conduct stack-up analysis on designed components.
  • Create test cases, design rules, or requirements as necessary.
  • Benchmark and develop concepts for power distribution systems.
  • Work closely with suppliers to resolve issues prior to validation builds.
  • Manage DFMEA, PFMEA, BOD, and BOP processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, EMC, and grade regulations.
  • Design and develop interface plastics and sheet metal components required in battery enclosures.
  • Support the development of parts both in-house and at supplier locations.
  • Participate in supplier PPAP activities and periodic audits to improve quality and process efficiency.
  • Develop supply plans for M1/VB and production cars (saleable vehicles).
  • Provide engineering solutions for build issues and contain/fix problems on current production vehicles.
  • Release 3D harness assembly models in PLM.
  • Experience change management processes like Engineering Change Requests.
  • Select harness coverings based on 3D model routing and packaging geometry.

Key Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with HV battery packs, cells, and modules.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing EDS HV harnesses and busbars, BMS.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Knowledge of tooling feasibility, raw materials, and sources, as well as familiarity with the full design life cycle process.
  • Familiarity with EDU, battery modules, busbar, DCDC converters, and motors is an advantage.
  • Understanding of problem-solving techniques (e.g., six-sigma) and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience using industry-standard ECR processes.
  • Familiarity with EDS power distribution and components.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in electrical wiring harness, busbar, fuse, connectors, relays, routing, and packaging in CATIA V5/V6.
  • Demonstrable experience of system release responsibility from concept to manufacture.
  • Working knowledge of project delivery processes.
