Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As an Application DBA, you will be responsible for the performance optimization and tuning of our Oracle database. You will work closely with API Gateway teams to optimize database interaction patterns and support GET/POST transaction flows from APIs into Oracle.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Analysis and resolution of database bottlenecks affecting application/api performance.
    • Tuning of SQL queries, PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, and indexes for optimal response times.
    • Implementation of best practices for connection pooling, partitioning, and caching strategies.
  • Application & Middleware Integration Support:
    • Collaboration with API Gateway and custom orchestration teams to optimize database interaction patterns.
    • Support for GET/POST transaction flows from APIs into Oracle.
    • Ensure efficient database design for web applications with high concurrency and SLA targets.
  • On-Premise & Cloud Integration:
    • Management of data synchronization between on-prem Oracle and Fusion Cloud Oracle DB via OIC (Oracle Integration Cloud).
    • Implementation and support of Pub/Sub mechanisms for customer data exchange.
    • Monitoring and troubleshooting replication/data transfer issues.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Proactive monitoring of system health, query execution plans, and workload statistics (AWR, ASH, ADDM).
    • Root cause analysis and resolution for performance incidents.
    • Partnership with infrastructure DBAs for patching, backups, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
    • Development and maintenance of documentation, standards, and runbooks for application database operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 6–8 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA, with emphasis on Application DBA responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise in: Oracle 12c/19c performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, optimizer hints. SQL and PL/SQL development and debugging. AWR, ASH, ADDM, TKPROF, and other Oracle diagnostic/tuning tools.
  • Experience supporting web applications, API-driven architectures, or middleware platforms.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and Fusion Cloud database integration (Pub/Sub methodology preferred).
  • Knowledge of high availability, scalability, and SLA management for mission-critical applications.
  • Solid understanding of database security, auditing, and user access controls.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in cross-functional agile teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with application developers, architects, and operations teams.

Preferred/Bonus Skills:

  • Exposure to Oracle GoldenGate or other replication tools.
  • Experience with API Gateway products (Apigee, Kong, Oracle API Gateway, etc.).
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps pipelines for DB changes.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Oracle Enterprise Manager, Grafana, Prometheus).
