Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing multiple Oracle and SQL Server databases in a distributed environment.

About the Role
  • This is a full-time position that requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • You will work closely with our implementation and support teams to identify and resolve database-related issues.
  • Develop new requirements based on input from these teams and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide data setup support for QA and Dev environments, including generating ad-hoc reports.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Support and Training:
  • Provide 24/7 user support, including on-call hours.
  • Escalate problems to the corporate team and third parties as needed.
  • Resolve database-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conduct regular health checks on databases to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain master data to prevent inconsistencies.
  • Monitor and administer report queues to minimize delays.
Coordination with Vendor:
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding new patches, requirements, and bugs within specified timelines.
Knowledge Transfer:
  • Provide technical training to peers and subordinates within the IT department.
Release Deployment:
  • Test product patches released by vendors and track issues until closure.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing for new features and functionalities.
  • Provide go-live support after deployment.
Following Departmental Processes:
  • Track issues reported daily.
  • Maintain approval records.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the reporting manager.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in database administration, preferably with Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of database management systems, data modeling, and software development life cycles.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
