Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Danfoss Drives Heavy Industries customers in various industries, including Cement, Metal, Oil and Gas, and process industries, via phone and email in a fast-paced contact center environment.
  • Own and effectively follow VFD/PLC, DCS, and system-related issues through to resolution, including technical, project commissioning, troubleshooting, start-up, installation, programming, spare part identification, schematics/documentation, equipment crossover, case management, and warranty support.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of essential electric theory principles, including resistance, impedance, capacitance, inductance, electromagnetism, power conversion, 3-phase systems, synchronous and asynchronous machines, energy storage, hybridization, DC power circuits, and more.
  • Apply knowledge of Low Voltage drives with Service & Commissioning/Engineering exposure in drives, as well as experience implementing PLC and DCS systems, fieldbus systems, and other related technologies.
  • Travel to various locations as required to provide on-site support to customers.
  • Take ownership of complex system issues, often involving high-profile, high-horsepower applications, fieldbus, common DC bus, drive and motor theory, power quality, and more.
  • Lead failure analysis and root cause identification for drive equipment, identify quality issues, collect data, report, and channel through the appropriate avenues to ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • Provide expert support and assistance on high-complexity and/or high-profile cases escalated from Level I, from within Level II or alternative internal routes, and deliver adequate and timely solutions.
  • Develop and maintain an expert-level knowledge of product, Commissioning, service, application, drive, motor, and electric theory, power quality/harmonic analysis, UL/CE/IEC/related standards, power electronics, business trends, and industry topics needed to support duties.
  • Regularly review and maintain relationships with KAM Heavy Industries customers.

Background & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Power Electronics Engineering or related field (or a mix of Associate degree and demonstrable extensive experience in the Variable Frequency Drive, Power Electronics, and Automation industry).
  • Minimum 10 to 12 years of relevant service/Commissioning and/or application experience in the Drives, Power Electronics, or Automation industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics of varying levels of complexity, effectively use standard electrical test equipment, and possess strong communication and service skills.
  • Service and Application experience on Danfoss variable frequency drives is highly desirable, but experience on other brand VFDs can be considered in lieu of Danfoss-specific knowledge.
