Linux Engineer/Support Specialist

Canonical is a leading tech firm that publishes Ubuntu, an open-source operating system. We are seeking a skilled Linux engineer/administrator to support our customers and contribute to the growth of the company.

The role involves delivering technical support experience on the full Desktop and Server technical stack at Canonical. You will be accountable for resolving customer issues, providing excellent communication skills, and participating in training sessions, team gatherings, and Company events.

Your Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Work from home or remote locations and provide technical support for employees.
  • Take ownership of new cases via telephone, email, and web.
  • Act as an internal customer advocate, keeping them updated in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate each support case according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and maintain existing ones, ensuring shared knowledge and lessons learned are available to customers.
  • Draft and distribute technical notices for internal and external communication.
  • Prioritize your work to accomplish the most important and urgent tasks first.
  • Continuously learn about our products and services.
  • Maintain regular communication and information exchange with the rest of the team, locally and remotely.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with system performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Linux server administration.
  • Programming fundamentals in any language.
  • Ability to learn quickly, handle pressure, and communicate effectively.
