Financial Lines Underwriting Manager

Leading experienced underwriters specialising in Financial Lines is a key focus of our business.

This role involves managing a portfolio of financial lines business, developing underwriting strategies, and working closely with clients and brokers to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, analyse and price complex risk portfolios within defined authority levels.
  • Structure and negotiate reinsurance arrangements for treaty and facultative business.
  • Review submissions, assess risk exposure and provide tailored solutions.
  • Grow and maintain a book of profitable business while meeting underwriting performance targets.
  • Monitor market trends, claims experience and emerging risks impacting liability lines.
  • Contribute to product development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cedents, brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the business in client meetings, negotiations and industry forums.
  • Provide technical support and thought leadership on Financial Lines.
  • Work collaboratively with underwriting teams for alignment and knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to training initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Liability/Financial Lines underwriting (insurance or reinsurance).
  • Deep understanding of D&O, PI, Cyber and other specialty liability products.
  • Strong grasp of treaty & facultative structures.
  • Graduate / Postgraduate, preferably with professional qualifications.
  • Excellent analytical and risk assessment skills.
  • Commercial acumen with strategic thinking ability.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
