Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Open Telemetry Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and highly available OpenTelemetry solutions.

Your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining our company's observability infrastructure, including the instrumentation of application code, configuration of analytical backends, and integration with external systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in OpenTelemetry, including hands-on experience with OTLP protocol, OpenTelemetry Semantic Conventions, OpenTelemetry Collector, and OpenTelemetry Java Agent.
  • Practical ability to instrument Java code using the OpenTelemetry API and OpenTelemetry Java SDK.
  • BASIC understanding of AWS services and their role in modern application deployment.
  • BASIC Linux knowledge, including common commands and day-to-day troubleshooting.
  • At least 7 years of development experience in Java (Python experience is also acceptable).
  • Hands-on experience working with observability analytical backends such as DataDog, Dynatrace, or Grafana.
  • Good years of experience working with container technologies (e.g., Docker).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with development teams and other stakeholders.
  • BASIC understanding of software architecture principles, including the differences between monolithic and microservices architectures.
