The role of a Data Engineer involves building strong working relationships with key stakeholders to drive engineering standards and improve technical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understanding customers' business objectives and developing data-centric solutions to address them is essential.
  • Leading or participating in ETL strategy and technical solution definition, execution, and communication is crucial for success.
  • Collaborating with business users and infrastructure teams to ensure adherence to client and company guidelines is vital.
  • Participating in agile projects from ideation to implementation, designing technical solutions for business requirements is a key responsibility.

A successful Data Engineer will also be responsible for adhering to the Code of Conduct, influencing stakeholders to ensure robust and secure solutions, and upholding industry best practices.

This role contributes to delivery planning, providing guidance to ensure technical deliveries align with engineering direction and strategy.

A strong mentorship capability, coaching and guiding team members to foster growth and continuous learning is required.

Essential Skills and Behaviours
  • Hands-on experience in ETL pipeline building with Spark or Scala programming framework and knowledge in developing UNIX Shell Script, Oracle SQL/PL-SQL, Cloudera Hadoop (Apache Spark, Hive), and Autosys JIL is necessary.
  • Experience in Big data platform for ETL development with AWS cloud platform is an asset.
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Cloud Watch is essential.
  • Holding hands-on experience with Teradata data warehouses and proficiency across Enterprise Analytics/BI/DW/ETL technologies such as Teradata Control Framework, Tableau is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
