Job Title: International Tax Supervisor
Job Description:
At UPS, we're seeking a skilled International Tax Supervisor to join our team in Mumbai. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the timely filing of Indian tax returns and handling tax audits, assessments, and appeals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle tax compliance processes, including preparation and review of tax returns.
- Manage tax audits, assessments, and appeals in India, including attending hearings.
- Prepare tax communications and correspondences to tax offices or review those prepared by external advisers.
- Implement UPS's global transfer pricing strategy locally and collaborate with US Corporate on transfer pricing documentation.
- Address direct and indirect tax issues arising from operational or tax law changes and recommend solutions to management.
- Liaise with external tax advisers for practical advice on tax implications of non-routine transactions, including negotiating with local tax authorities and obtaining advance rulings.
- Handle tax accounting work, including quarterly ASC 450 and 740 assessments for uncertain tax positions and memo preparation.
- Attend to tax-related queries raised by external auditors.
- Estimate and pay local corporate tax and withholding taxes.
- Act as the contact point for Indian tax-related matters.
- Participate in cross-functional team discussions and projects concerning tax directly or indirectly, contributing to optimal tax outcomes based on viable business solutions.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant with competencies in indirect taxes, especially GST, Indian corporate income, and transfer pricing.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a Big 4 CPA firm or niche consultancy firms in tax advisory, assessment, and litigation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Job-specific competence: accounting knowledge and capability to research on any topic.
- Strong team player, self-motivated, result-driven, and able to communicate clearly and concisely with personnel from different levels and both within and outside the organization.
- Capable/proven decision maker, effectively bilingual (spoken and written).
- Strong command of the English Language, both written and verbal communication.
- Good working knowledge in MS Office.
