Job Title: Data Management Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of DMSII databases.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases to ensure efficient data access and high performance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Data Management: Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to optimize data access and retrieval.
  • Backup and Recovery: Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Capacity Planning: Assist in capacity planning to ensure adequate resources for future growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls to protect sensitive data.
  • Documentation: Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures for future reference.
RequirementsKey Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
