Key Finance Leader Responsibilities

The finance leader is responsible for leading and managing the company's financial structure and optimal financing options. This includes providing strategic direction, tracking cash flow, managing accounting and finance departments, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage daily operations of the accounting team
  2. Ensure timely filing of GST and TDS by reviewing and overseeing the work of external accountants
  3. Review and oversee management information systems, cashflow, and vendor ledger work
  4. Develop business models and forecasts for investors
  5. Plan expenses for the next quarter, half year, and fiscal year
  6. Prepare weekly and monthly cash flows
  7. Assist in reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis
  8. Participate in annual budgeting, planning, administering, and reviewing all financial plans
  9. Ensure operational compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
  10. Manage direct and indirect tax compliance along with internal and external audits
  11. Process vendor and other payments, salaries, reimbursements, and ensure efficient invoicing

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Take responsibility for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting
  2. Drive the company's financial strategy and hiring needs
  3. Lead development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
  4. Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
  5. Implement best practices and tools to ensure strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows
  6. Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action
  7. Work with founders to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
  8. Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
  9. Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives
  10. Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of company

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Five or more years of experience in financial roles
  2. Minimum 2 years experience in executive leadership/team handling role
  3. CA qualification or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  4. Experience in independently handling finalisation of books of accounts including balance sheet, P&L, cash flow statements
  5. Experience working with founders/business leads on core strategic objectives
  6. Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
  7. Working knowledge of how to raise capital both through equity sale and traditional lines of credit
  8. Experience in handling fund raise mandates, due diligence, and investor relations
  9. Experience in accounting and ERP software along with OMS tools
  10. Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail, organisational, and time management skills
