Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Systems Designer

The role entails designing HVAC systems to meet client requirements. This involves performing load calculations, selecting and sizing equipment based on project needs, and ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed design specifications for HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and air distribution systems.
  • Analyze building loads using software tools like HAP, Trace 700, or Carrier E-20.
  • Select suitable HVAC equipment (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, heat exchangers, pumps) based on project demands.
  • Design ductwork, piping layouts, and control systems using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Navisworks.
  • Evaluate designs against ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and local building codes.
  • Optimize HVAC system performance for energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors for integrated system delivery.
  • Promote the development of technical documentation, reports, and specifications for project approvals.
  • Support clients in estimating costs and evaluating bids for HVAC projects.
  • Provide expert guidance during installation and commissioning phases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software (HAP, Trace 700, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Carrier E-20).
  • Strong knowledge of psychrometrics, refrigeration cycles, and duct/pipe sizing principles.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze HVAC system performance issues.
