Design Engineering Specialist

Job Summary:

The Design Engineering Specialist will play a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge mechanical systems and equipment. This position involves collaborating with customers and marketing teams to determine design requirements, planning and executing precision mechanical equipment designs, developing and testing prototypes, and working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design specifications are met.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Determine mechanical applications and requirements through collaboration with vendors and design teams.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to determine project requirements and objectives.
  • Conduct research to inform design and engineering methods required for mechanical systems.
  • Plan and execute mechanical designs using CAD, CAM, and 3D CAD programs.
  • Perform computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine designs.
  • Oversee the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.
  • Document the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
  • Liaise with designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.
  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a mechanical design engineer.
  • Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Rhino.
  • Solid knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Attentive to detail and critically minded.
  • Ability to stay abreast of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
  • Candidates with past experience in design engineering of meter mix equipment preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience designing machines, dispensing equipment, pumps, and hand tools.
