At Canonical, we are currently seeking a skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead and manage our software engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our fast-paced environment and make a significant impact on our OEM enablement projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and enabling their team to succeed in delivering quality products.

The role requires excellent time management, deep knowledge of the Linux system, low-level debugging, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and management ability.

  • Recruit and motivate your team to deliver quality results
  • Set clear goals and priorities with the team; monitor and measure team health indicators
  • Promote career growth and development within the team
  • Coordinate with project managers, HWE, QA, and certification management
  • Monitor projects from kickoff to post-mortem and handle escalations
  • Collaborate with product engineering teams (including Desktop, Foundations, Kernel, and Security)
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, preferably computer science or software engineering. A proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian, is also required. In addition, the candidate should have experience with development and testing methodologies, maintainable code quality, and management responsibilities. Strong English and Chinese language communication skills are essential.
